CCB and Child Disability Benefit Payment Dates 2026

When is the Canada child benefit paid in 2026?

All 2026 Canada child benefit payment dates, when the child disability benefit is added, July 2026 amounts, and what to do if a deposit is late.

Am I eligible?

The Canada child benefit (CCB) arrives on a fixed monthly schedule set by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), usually on the 20th. If your child has been approved for the disability tax credit (DTC), the child disability benefit (CDB) is added to that same deposit. Below are every 2026 payment date, the amounts in force since July 2026 and the checks to run when money does not show up.

All dates and amounts come from the CRA pages for the CCB and the child disability benefit, checked on October 29, 2026.

When is the Canada child benefit paid in 2026?

The CRA pays the Canada child benefit once a month, usually on the 20th. In 2026, three dates move: June 19 and September 18 came early because the 20th fell on a weekend, and the December payment is set for December 11. The last three payments of the year are October 20, November 20 and December 11.

Each benefit year runs from July to June. Payments from January to June 2026 were based on your 2024 tax return, and payments from July to December 2026 are based on your 2025 return. That is why the amount can change in July even when nothing else in your life changed.

The CRA also notes one exception to the monthly schedule: if your total benefit for the year is less than $240, you do not get monthly payments. You receive one lump sum with the July payment instead.

Is the child disability benefit paid on the same day as the CCB?

Yes. The child disability benefit is not a separate deposit with its own calendar. The CRA calculates it automatically and adds it to your Canada child benefit payment, so it lands on the CCB dates above. To get it, you must be eligible for the CCB and your child must be approved for the disability tax credit.

This is different from the Canada Disability Benefit for adults, which Service Canada pays on the third Thursday of each month. The names are close, but the programs, the agencies and the dates are not. If you are tracking both, our guide to Canada Disability Benefit and CPP disability payment dates covers the adult side.

The child disability benefit stops when your child turns 18, along with the CCB. A child turning 18 in December 2026 gets a last payment in December 2026, according to the CRA.

How much are the CCB and the child disability benefit from July 2026?

For July 2026 to June 2027, the maximum CCB is $8,157 a year for each child under 6 and $6,883 for each child aged 6 to 17. A child approved for the DTC can add up to $3,480 a year, or $290 a month, through the child disability benefit. These maximums apply when family income is low enough.

ChildMaximum CCB per yearMaximum CDB per yearCombined per month
Under 6, approved for the DTC$8,157$3,480$969.75
6 to 17, approved for the DTC$6,883$3,480$863.58
Under 6, not approved for the DTC$8,157$0$679.75
6 to 17, not approved for the DTC$6,883$0$573.58

The monthly figures are the yearly maximum divided by 12, as the CRA presents them: $679.75 for a child under 6 and $573.58 for a child aged 6 to 17, plus $290.00 for the child disability benefit. Age changes take effect the month after a birthday. A child turning 6 in March 2027 is paid at the under-6 rate for March and at the 6 to 17 rate from April.

How does family income reduce the CCB and the child disability benefit?

Both benefits shrink as adjusted family net income (AFNI) rises, but not from the same starting point. The CCB starts dropping above $38,237. The child disability benefit stays whole until $82,847, then drops by 3.2% of the income above that for one eligible child, or 5.7% for two or more eligible children.

Eligible childrenCCB reduction, AFNI $38,237 to $82,847CCB reduction, AFNI over $82,847CDB reduction, AFNI over $82,847
17% of income over $38,237$3,123 + 3.2% of income over $82,8473.2% of income over $82,847
213.5% of income over $38,237$6,022 + 5.7% of income over $82,8475.7% (two or more DTC-eligible children)
319% of income over $38,237$8,476 + 8% of income over $82,8475.7% (two or more DTC-eligible children)
4 or more23% of income over $38,237$10,260 + 9.5% of income over $82,8475.7% (two or more DTC-eligible children)

A worked example shows the gap between the two thresholds. Take one child under 6, approved for the DTC, in a family with an AFNI of $100,000. The CRA’s own example puts the CCB at $4,485.11 for the year, about $373.75 a month. Applying the CRA’s published formula to the child disability benefit gives $3,480 minus 3.2% of $17,153, or $2,931.10 for the year, about $244.26 a month. Together, that family would receive about $618 a month on each CCB date.

The CRA’s CCB amounts page walks through the same formulas, and the agency also offers a child and family benefits calculator for your exact numbers.

Does RDSP income count in adjusted family net income?

No. When the CRA calculates adjusted family net income for the CCB, it starts from line 23600 for you and your spouse, then subtracts any registered disability savings plan (RDSP) income either of you received, reported on line 12500. RDSP amounts repaid are added back. RDSP payments to a parent therefore do not lower the CCB or child disability benefit.

This matters in families where a parent also lives with a disability and draws on their own RDSP: those payments stay out of the income test that sets the monthly CCB deposit. The plan has its own rules on withdrawals and on repaying grants and bonds, explained in our guide to the RDSP 10-year rule.

When does the child disability benefit start after a DTC approval?

If you already receive the CCB, you do not apply for the child disability benefit. Once the CRA approves your child’s disability tax credit, it calculates the benefit automatically. For a first-time recipient, the CRA covers the current benefit year and the two previous benefit years. Earlier years need a written request to your tax centre.

The DTC approval is the step that unlocks everything else. A medical practitioner certifies the impairment on Form T2201, the CRA reviews it, and only then does the child disability benefit appear in your CCB calculation. Our guide to filling out Form T2201 covers each part of the form, and the child disability tax credit guide explains which impairments can qualify.

Because a benefit year runs from July to June, a recent approval can reach back further than parents expect. An approval received in the fall of 2026 falls in the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year, so the automatic calculation also covers July 2025 to June 2026 and July 2024 to June 2025, provided your child was eligible for the DTC during those periods.

What should you do if your CCB payment does not arrive?

Wait five business days after the scheduled date before contacting the CRA. In the meantime, check the payment status in your CRA account, confirm that your address and direct deposit details are current, and look for a CRA letter that needs an answer.

According to the CRA, CCB payments, including the child disability benefit, can stop or change when:

  • you or your spouse did not file a tax return, even with no income to report
  • you did not answer a letter from the CRA about your situation
  • you moved, changed bank accounts or changed marital status without telling the CRA
  • your adjusted family net income rose, or your child turned 18 or left your care

The CRA asks families to file by April 30 each year to avoid a break in payments, since the July recalculation uses that return. If you change banks, keep the old account open until the first deposit reaches the new one: the CRA says the switch can take up to a month. Once the CRA updates your file, any missed amount you were entitled to is paid with your next scheduled payment.

You can also ask the CRA for email reminders, which are sent about a week before each payment, and see your next expected date and amount in your CRA account.

How do Quebec families receive the CCB and Retraite Québec payments?

Quebec families receive the federal Canada child benefit from the CRA on the same 2026 dates as other provinces. Retraite Québec pays its own Family Allowance and Supplement for Handicapped Children separately, four times a year by default: January 5, April 1, July 2 and October 1, 2026, or monthly on request.

In 2026, the Supplement for Handicapped Children is $241 a month for each eligible child, the same amount whatever the family income, and it is not taxable. The quarterly payment in October covers October, November and December. Retraite Québec lists the monthly dates and the change-of-frequency form on its payment dates page. For families claiming the Quebec disability amount as well, see our page on the Quebec disability tax credit.

Are the 2027 CCB payment dates published?

Not yet. On October 29, 2026, the CRA’s CCB payment dates page showed the 2026 calendar and older years, but no 2027 dates. The amounts for January to June 2027 are already set, because they belong to the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year shown above. We will add the 2027 calendar once the CRA publishes it.

Until then, the CRA CCB payment dates page is the reference, and your CRA account remains the most reliable place to see the exact date and amount for your family.

Frequently asked questions

What is the next CCB payment date?

The Canada Revenue Agency lists November 20 and December 11 as the last two Canada child benefit payment dates of 2026. The December deposit comes earlier than the usual 20th. Your CRA account shows your own next expected payment date and amount once you sign in.

Do I need to apply separately for the child disability benefit?

No, if you already receive the Canada child benefit for a child whose disability tax credit is approved. The CRA calculates the child disability benefit automatically and adds it to your CCB payment. The DTC itself still has to be approved first, using Form T2201 certified by a medical practitioner.

Why is my December CCB payment early?

The CRA calendar sets the December 2026 payment on Friday, December 11, instead of the 20th. The agency does not give a reason on its payment dates page. Plan your December budget around that date, because no second CCB deposit follows later that month.

Does RDSP income reduce the Canada child benefit?

No. When the CRA calculates adjusted family net income, it subtracts registered disability savings plan income that you or your spouse received, reported on line 12500, and adds back RDSP amounts repaid. RDSP payments to a parent therefore do not raise family income for CCB or child disability benefit purposes.

Are the 2027 CCB payment dates available yet?

Not yet. As of October 29, 2026, the CRA payment dates page lists only the 2026 calendar, plus older years. The January 2027 date has not been published there. Sign up for CRA payment reminders, which arrive about one week before each deposit, so you are not guessing.

Who do I call about a missing child disability benefit payment?

Wait five business days after the scheduled date, then call the CRA benefits line at 1-800-387-1193 for questions about the child disability benefit. For questions about the disability tax credit itself, such as the status of a Form T2201, the CRA line is 1-800-959-8281.

The child disability benefit, the RDSP grants and bonds and several tax savings all depend on one approval: the disability tax credit. If you are not sure whether your child’s condition qualifies, start with an eligibility check before gathering medical paperwork.
